Rob: “I’m not the lead in the second film. Taylor is.”

Robert Pattinson is ready to let Taylor Lautner have all the attention for a while. Pattinson, who never really seems all that comfortable with the adoration he gets from fans and the media for his role in the “Twilight” movies, is ready to sit back and let someone else deal with the screaming girls. And thanks to his scaled-back role in “New Moon” and Lautner’s beefed-up one, that shouldn’t be too hard to accomplish.

“I’m not the lead in the second film. Taylor is,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald. “I appear in Bella’s dreams. So I’m in it but the focus is not on me. I just have significant moments at the beginning … and the end. So I’m more of a supporting role in this one, which is why I felt so free. I didn’t have to deal with any of the bullsh– of the first one. I don’t have to hold the movie or worry about the fans. I think I did it better without all those pressures.”

It wasn’t just Pattinson’s brooding nature and smoldering good looks onscreen in “Twilight” that made girls fall for the actor, his skills as a musician also won them over. But looking back on his singing for the flick’s soundtrack, he totally regrets it. “When the first film came out I felt like a complete tosser,” he explained. “It looked like I was trying to be cool or something, like Eminem. You know, be in a movie and then do a song for the soundtrack. But I didn’t look cool, I just looked ridiculous.”

And Pattinson admits that he’s sort of an “all work and no play” kind of guy. He said that even when he goes to hang out and relax, he ends up doing things that relate to his job in some way. “I don’t really need to do stuff to relax or get away because all my interests are part of my job,” he said. “Like I’ll watch movies to be inspired to do other movies. I read books to be inspired. I listen to music to be inspired to write music. Everything I do is to create something.”

Pattinson also wants to make sure he’s not just known for starring in the “Twilight Saga.” He’s lined up a slew of other projects like “Remember Me” and “Unbound Captives,” co-starring Hugh Jackman.

And when Jackman and Pattinson met up recently in Japan to bond for the movie, they ended up in a karaoke-off. “We were singing Abba songs, it was pretty funny. It was sort of an Abba song sing-off, you know, last man standing. I think he [won], only because he can drink more than me and still sing in tune,” he explained. “He’s a cool guy and I’m really looking forward to that film.”dsaiohfsd
