New Moon over Volterra

The historical Tuscan town has a new moon over the city. Ever since the city was mentioned in the Twilight Saga as the dwelling place of the powerful vampire clan, the Volturi, Twilighters from all over the globe has bee flocking into the town to have that Twilight experience.

Just like its counterpart in the US, Forks, Washington, Volterra has seen a rise in their tourist arrivals mostly consisting of teenagers and young adults – all females. As a result, the town as organized guided tours that tours the guest around the city including the possible places where the Volturi resides.

“It was a real surprise for us. We didn’t expect it,” says Paolo Paterni, head of the Volterra Tourism Board. “Volterra is a slow city. You have to live in it in a slow way. Our main aim is to direct (visitors) in the city without overrunning it.”

These tours of course would also highlight the city’s historical past – as one of the main towns during the Etruscan rule in Italy.
